Materializing a binary hyperlens design

چکیده
We present a design of cylindrical hyperlens made of a layered binary material. The design approach uses an improved effective medium theory to take account of radius-dependent effects due to curvature of material interfaces resulting in nonperiodically distributed thicknesses of the lens layers. The performance of this lens is compared versus the designs with periodically thick layers, which we showed in earlier papers. Detailed quantitative results analyzed for the lenses with the same number and starting order of layers prove better functioning of the lens designed with this approach. © 2009 American Institute of Physics. Development of optical hyperlens for imaging below the diffraction limit.
We report here the design, fabrication and characterization of optical hyperlens that can image sub-diffraction-limited objects in the far field. The hyperlens is based on an artificial anisotropic metamaterial with carefully designed hyperbolic dispersion. We successfully designed and fabricated such a metamaterial hyperlens composed of curved silver/alumina multilayers. Experimental results d...
متن کاملA simple design of flat hyperlens for lithography and imaging with half-pitch resolution down to 20 nm
We propose that a hyperlens can be used for photolithography to generate deep subwavelength arbitrary patterns from diffraction-limited masks. Numerical simulation shows that half-pitch resolution down to 20 nm is possible from a mask with 280 nm period at working wavelength 375 nm. We also extend the hyperlens projection concept from cylindrical interfaces to arbitrary interfaces. An example o...
متن کاملDemonstration of nanoimprinted hyperlens array for high-throughput sub-diffraction imaging
Overcoming the resolution limit of conventional optics is regarded as the most important issue in optical imaging science and technology. Although hyperlenses, super-resolution imaging devices based on highly anisotropic dispersion relations that allow the access of high-wavevector components, have recently achieved far-field sub-diffraction imaging in real-time, the previously demonstrated dev...

The development of nanostructured metamaterials and the ability to engineer material dispersion has led to impressive advances in the diverse field of nanophotonics. Of interest to many is the enhanced ability to control, illuminate, and image with light on subwavelength scales. In this letter, we numerically demonstrate a hyperlens with unprecedented radial-resolution at 5 nm scale for both im...
متن کاملExperimental demonstration of a non-resonant hyperlens in the visible spectral range
A metamaterial hyperlens offers a solution to overcome the diffraction limit by transforming evanescent waves responsible for imaging subwavelength features of an object into propagating waves. However, the first realizations of optical hyperlenses were limited by significant resonance-induced losses. Here we report the experimental demonstration of a non-resonant waveguide-coupled hyperlens op...
